The Blockchain for Clinical Trials Initiative
The mission of the IEEE-Standards Association Supply Chain/Clinical Trials Technology Implementation Industry Connections Program is: to evaluate, educate and embrace viable applications of blockchain technology within the pharmaceutical framework that will lead to enhanced patient care, optimization of the drug development lifecycle, advance innovation in medicine.
Current viable use cases being evaluated
- A patient-data driven blockchain empowering patients to “manage” their health record
- Closing the disconnect between medical and clinical
- Validating patient data and patient identity
- Improving the quality of clinical research
- Optimizing the patient recruitment/engagement/informed consent process
Join one of the current workstreams
- Smart Contracts for e-Consent
- Data Validation Scoring System
- Clinical IoT’s Data Validation and Sharing via Blockchain for Research and Patient Engagement
The Process
Through our in-person forums and education webinars, we bring progressive minds representing the key stakeholders in the process – industry (pharma & health), policy makers, technologists, advocacy groups – to develop consensus on frameworks for technical standards and policy recommendation guidelines that alleviate barriers to adoption of the technology.
Workstreams are open and inclusive and do not require a financial commitment to participate. If you are interested in leading or participating in one of these workstreams, please click the button below. If you have a great idea on a workstream, write to Maria Palombini, m.palombini@ieee.org to set up a time to discuss your idea.
